Moscow
Mother Russia. May sounds intimidating, but is actually quite lovely. We visited during the World Cup in 2018, so activity level may have been elevated, but nonetheless, we were impressed. Moscow is Russia's capital since the 13th century. It's Russia's beating heart and its largest city. Winters are harsh, so best time to visit is during the short summer months. The historic center near the red square has a small town feeling and is best enjoyed on foot, but the metro system is expansive allowing you easy transportation all over Moscow. You can easily spend 3-4 days exploring Moscow.
